Parent Participation
Volunteers are a crucial part of the success of our Cub Scout Program. We think of our Pack as a community and rely on all members to participate in order to keep our Pack strong and thriving.
Every Parent/Caregiver (also known as "Akelas") is encouraged to volunteer in some capacity every year. Whether in leadership positions or volunteering to help host a Pack event, parent/caregiver participation really makes a difference and also sets a strong example for our Scouts.
You don't need to know anything about scouting and here are the best ways to help:
* Take a Leadership Position with the Pack
* Sign up to be on the Activities committee
* Help with a Pack Special Event
* Help provide supplies and/or additional resources
* Attend our monthly Parent Meetings to help plan our calendar
Pack 47 Leadership Positions
Volunteer for an open position!
- Committee Chair – Colin Fields
- Cubmaster – Jared Lindros – The Cubmaster carries out the Pack program with the support of the Asst. Cubmaster, Committee Chair and Pack Leadership, including leading monthly Pack meetings and communicating via email and/or phone with the Pack.
- Assistant Cubmaster – Open – Helps the Cubmaster as needed. Ready to fill in for the Cubmaster when necessary. Participate in leading Pack meetings. Helps plan and execute Pack activities. Along with the Pack committee, develop/promote an ongoing plan for recruiting new scouts
- Treasurer – Jared Lindros – Manages the Pack finances
- Activities Coordinator – Michael Marge – Plans and coordinates Pack meetings and Pack activities for the year. 10 pack meetings per year. Many of these are pre-programmed activities. Ensures the Pack 47 Calendar/website are kept updated.
- Fishing Derby Coordinator – Open – Plans and coordinates our annual fishing derby
- New Member Coordinator – Carrie Russo – Assists new members to get setup with their Den, activities, and other scouting information. Periodically checks in with new members to see how things are going and if there is anything we can help with.
- Scout Overnight Coordinator – Open – Plans and coordinates 2 pack camp outs a year – one in the fall, one in the spring (Nobscot Scout Campground in Sudbury, Hopkinton YMCA, etc.) Plans and coordinates one additional annual overnight (Covid-dependent) (Museum of Science, Battleship Cove)
- Webmaster - Mike Koker - Updates Scout website as needed
- Winter sports Coordinator – Christopher Cummins – Plans and coordinates 2 winter activity outings (Ice-skating, Snow tubing, Snow sledding)
- Wreath & Candle Fundraiser Coordinator – Heather Desmarais – Plans and coordinates our annual Wreath & Candle fundraiser. Includes creating routes for Scouts, ordering wreaths & candles and facilitating delivery to Scouts for them to deliver to customers.
